I guess if they are really bad, then you will get it more often. Oil can leak down past a worn seal when the engine is not running, hence the puff during the first start of the day. If you are seeing smoke while driving it is more likely ring damage. I havn't heard of stem seals showing smoke while the engine is running. I would have thought that the cylinder pressure would prevent the oil entering the chamber. I guess during the induction stroke it is under vacuum. Your seals would have to be really stuffed though to let through enough smoke to notice it though. [Report message to a moderator]
