Toyota usually sold a ZR version, they just tarted it up. If it is indeed a 2l version, then it is imported. You have to work out how it got into the country in the first place. The fact that it was actually registered before means that most likely a private import by someone down the line and it has gone through the necessary paperwork to be registered.
The RTA is the Road and Transport Authority (in NSW), what you need to do is call them (or the equivalent wherever you are) and quote them the chassis number or the like and they'll tell you if everything is fine.
