the holden utes ( bar the original HQ to wb one tonner - THATS a real holden ute ) cant carry poo , they are designed for the new age holden bogan who cant afford a monaro for 2 doors, or jimmy the bundy drinker who wants to go do doughnuts in his mate jonesys back paddock ..

if you want to tow - get a falcon ute or sedan ( at least their rear can take weight ) or a larger Awd like a cruiser ..
in all seriousness - the holden ute VS a falcon ute - there is no comparison - the ford IS a ute - and has practicality on its side - the holden isnt as good for loads or towing when compared toe to toe ( thats a genuine fact backed suggestion )
have you thought about a hilux V6 ?

I've built up a HJ, HX, WB Holden utes and yes they are a real ute...
As for The VY Ute's Payload Yes It is Crap ( 320kg or somthing like that) but for towing a boat (dual axel and well balanced)
the Ute has the balls to do that.
As for the Jimmy Bundy drinker Crack.... That would be me 
The VY one tonner IS a one tonner, The Ute is a sedan with a tray.
