porting does two things.
increases potential airflow
increases efficiency
but bad porting can also make both worse. even good porting may only increase efficiency and airflow potential in certain rev ranges too.
actual airflow is ALWAYS controlled by your right foot. if you use the throttle lightly, you decrease your fuel consumption, simple as that.
