Damm. I have had problems like this before but it was caused by the spark plug leads! Using copper core leads are the worst for stereos and just about anything else electical! Another thing that may be the problem is the alternator! Try pulling the belt off and giving it another go! Also make sure you have a good ground between the stereo and the chassis of the car! And make sure that the antenna cable is firmly plugged into the antenna jack! Check the later before you spend time pulling that belt off!
