It is possible that the CD player is going out of adjustment and when the engine is running and you are getting max volts from the alternator this is pushing the deck just out. The TOC is the table of contents ie the index which is read first. The first simple thing to check is to clean the lens on the optical block carefully...dust could be the problem, or take it to a TV/audio repair shop for a quote...might be time to shout yourself a new one......
