it is always a good idea if you have the original i/c to give it a good flush out with thinners to remove any built-up oil residue etc. that gets sucked through the system via the cam cover.
it has also been documented on a site i once read (i wouldnt know where the link was to it now) that boost can escape back into the inlet track via the s/c crankcase ventialtion system (ACV).
they fixed this by taking the air control valve that resides on the top of the s/c. then just joining the three vent lines together. i had this done on my s/c for 2 years with-out any problem occuring to the s/c.
