Iridium IX are good but I don't know where you pulled the 100,000Km thing from... its platinums that are supposed to last 100,000.
Iridiums have a very fine centre electrode and therefore can give a good spark on almost any electrical system... even an almost dead one. Thats about the only bonus... negatives are that you can't adjust the gap and they cost a tiny bit more than coppers... $16ea for the 0.8mm gaps that I got for the 3SGTE.. for a couple of bucks who cares though
