Sprinta Regular Location: Perth Registered: September 2002	Re: second hand turbos - what to look for Sat, 25 October 2003 03:19 Shaft play forwards and side to side most 2nd hand turbos will have a tiny bit but if you wriggle it with your finger and can feel it its probably too much the more shaft play = the more chance the blades will hit the housing = bad In saying that, 'apparently' ball bearing turbos have a tiny bit of play from factory but i wouldnt go shopping for a turbo based on that.. You want no more than 0.5mm play i guess and thats probably too much Umm what else... basically the condition of the blades, any chips etc = bad Hard to check oil seal if the turbos off the car [Report message to a moderator]
