Thu, 25 July 2002 14:35 Just raise the compression (shaving the head) and run it on higher octane rating petrol (about 10.5 -> 10.8 can be run on Ultimate 98 or similar, although I recommend using valve conditioner additive because that engine is not so well matched to UNleaded petrol). If you are obsessed with a horsepower figure and not on driveability, then you can always port and polish the head to have ridiculous amounts of top end power but as much torque down-low as a stock Charade. Same goes for grinding cams. Of course, making sure the engine free-runs could be a good thing as well. It just comes down to matching the right parts to the task, for a given budget, with good design and thought to all aspects. 200hp at the engine (ie 100 kW at the wheels) is possible. If I were you though, I'd personally get a better engine to start off with. [Report message to a moderator]
