celica162 Regular Registered: May 2002	Re: 3S-GTE into ST162 Fri, 26 July 2002 01:43 Swapping any 3S into an already 3S setup car shouldn't be overly difficult, although i only know the theory behind it all. I also have an ST162 SX tho. but they would be almost in the same position for this swap. From what i have herd, the best way to do this esp. with so much power would be to use the MR2 gearbox as it is allot stronger than our FWD boxes. the engine should go in easy, but theres always little stuff ass bits which are gunna piss u off. There is also some debate that the 3SGTE needs the starter motor on the gearbox. My current setup (dunno about the 3S-FE's) has the starter on the engine, so there is no way i could use my current gearbox anyway. The SV21 Camry gearboxes (they also use a 3S-FE so you might already have a camry type box.) apparently have the starter on the gearbox which is what ya would need. This is all just rumour about the box. I dont know for sure any of the gearbox info (cept the MR2 stuff) if someone would like to correct me, i would appreciate it.
