Okay here's a link to the wiring diagram I scanned in - hope it helps out a bit, it's 840kb cause it's got alot of small text that is hard to make out if it was smaller (probably could've sacrificed a bit of quality, but oh well). Early model FWD Celica stereo stuff diagram And in regards to your question about having to remove a bunch of stuff to get to the stereo? I don't know about your car in particular, but I had to remove the plastic panel underneath the steering wheel, and also the glove box to get to my centre console - I don't think I had to remove anything else.
