When I got my car engineered he asked if I was getting a turbo timer for it and I said said yes.
The engineers reply to this was that when you wire it up for security reasons you have to wire it up through the handbrake, so when the timer's running the car down, if some wanker smashes a window jumps in your car and goes to drive off as soon as he realeses the hand brake the timer cuts and the engine dies.
I like the sound of that. probably one of the best suggestions I have heard.

Ummm, every half decent timer I have seen does get connected to the handbrake
