$1500 sounds pretty average. The $1000 component isn't that high when you consider the fuel system; remember they will have to install a fuel pump, a surge tank and EFI hoses in addition to actually bolting the engine in. None of this is hard to do, but the labour component really adds up with all these pissy little jobs.
