if you are going to get your box rebuilt, get it done by MV Automatics in blackwood SA, i am very happy with there work. i am running a 3000 rpm stall which with the standard turbs i could hold 3600rpm on the line at eastern creek.

what did it cost you if you don't mind me asking / you don't mind remembering?
Tial gates aren't that great.
a 45mm Progate ($750) would be a better option, i've had a lot of experience with these and they are the best value IMO. VeeBand connector is a bit annoying, but other than that, top stuff.
and i reckon that GT3040 that E30-323ti recommended would be spot on, great driveability and response with minimal lag.
you could build a good system yourself for around $4500 with REALLY good parts.
