Many would tell you the 1GGTE is too small an engine for the Mk2. In reality its not, its just that the engine bay is capable of taking many larger engines.
The 1GGTE will bolt to the mounts from a GA61 providing you have the matching front-sump, which is one of the reasons I wanted a 1GGTE.
If you're wanting something without lots of lag, perhaps the 1G with the big turbo isn't the best thing.
As for turboing the 5M, don't bother. Just buy a turbo engine like a 7MGTE to begin with or even better a 1JZGTE or 2JZGTE.
