Take one of the jet holders out of each carby when it is running, look down the hole at the fuel level. Higher makes it rich, lower makes it lean. There is a measurement in the book for base setting, then tune from that. Factory idle spec says 1000rpm +- 100rpm. If you have a flatspot, that is to do with the accelerator pumps and jets. Take carbs off engine and open the throttles to check, should do a wee of fuel from behind each throttle. Adjust the linkage so it works for all throttle opening movements.
