Micheal,
I believe you are dead right my friend.
I know from factory the main butterfly's have a lock washer with soft fold down tabs. That makes it basically impossible for the nuts to fall off when correctly assembled. I think its the same for the auxilary venturi's.
Hell Tina's old car saw many hours in the paddock and still didn't miss a beat.
Mukuni parts are getting hard to get but generally those that know how to tune them also know how to get the parts or something that will fit. (Ie Frank Kleinig)
Proper maintenance and good workmanship isn't luck any more than poor workmanship is the fault of the product assembled !
Not having a stab at you with that last one Bill, Hell I wouldn't even attempt a carby rebuild myself, I admit my limitations and leave those things I cannot to to a high enough standard to those I know can do the job.
I am working in the automotive industry now and its becoming a real sore point when people blame a product for human error. The fact is Mikuni's themselves are a damn good carby.
Thats not just my opinon it stated loud and clear by a company that should know. TRD are not a company that generally makes those sort of statements, they also stock both Weber and Mukini carbs (Among others).
But anyway enough of this crap, freakin cage, Dude you need to get your car checked out by someone who knows. Diagnoses over the net only works so well and you would need to have a good understanding of what is going wrong for it to be of much benefit.
A good tuning place will generally have the equipment to regraph the dizzy so they can check out your carbies AND ignition at the same time.
