I dunno about the radiation thing but I wouldn't be surprised. I don't know why Nokia is the most popular choice as there are other brands like Samsung, Panasonic, Alcatel that make high quality phones that any Nokia and Ericsson can produce. I've got a Sony CMD-J70 and I got it for ~A$250 (HK$1070) outright in HK which is cheaper than any bottom end Nokia, Ericsson etc. At least it doesn't sound like MIDI buzzers ringing but actual speaker with real sounds.
