Lambolica Forums Junkie Location: Northwestern Sydney Registered: August 2002	Re: Car Audio Question Thu, 06 November 2003 03:50 In a split 2-way system the tweeter is nearly always mounted away from the woofer, when in reality the best location is to actually have the sound eminating from the one location. read CO-AXIAL. If the tweeter is mounted away from the woofer any staging and imaging is destoryed and needs to be taken up by focasing the sound to one point.(which involves more work that I doubt the stratties are going to do for you.) second to this is the higher the frequency in the sound waves the more directional the sound is, the lower the frequency the harder it is to pinpoint the sound source. So as long as the tweeter is in front of the woofer ( and yes I do agree with you frank) and there is decent air space between them the mid drivers sound waves will travel around the tweeter with limited loss in quality. In a perfect world a speaker setup would be 15inch sub --> 8inch mid base --> 4 1/2 inch mid --> 1 1/2 dome tweeter with all speakers co-axial, But I'd like to see this done in a car environment This is a good example of what I mean sadly it doesn't come with a separate crossover. from memory Jaycar had a good example of a co-axial speaker as well.
