Well thanks guys for your help but today i am a happy man. just got a phone call from Clarion about the email i sent to them a week ago and they asked me to send the cd player down to them, they will have a look at it fix and update it and send it back up to me at no cost
now either they are just very good customer support or its because in the email i was going on about how if i can't fix this i will have to move to another brand as my friends have sony/pioneer and never have a problem so i said i'll have to move to one of them and well yeah. i think it helps to scare them by saying your going to not buy clarion anymore.
anyway i'm a happy guy. probably wont get the cd player back for months but hey at least i don't have to pay for anything and can listen to cd's once again  )) they said something about they simulated the problem down there and its something to do with subsonic viabrations or frequiencys upsetting the laser so it can't focus and apparntly they can do something to fix that. anyway thanks for your help guys. and i'll let you know when i get it back and if it works or not.
