I'm kinda of going to camp in between both of your arguments. I'm of the opinion that if you haven't been boosting your car, you dont need to idle your car as much. Thats fair enough, because you wont be heating the air and the turbo to the same extent.

But, as the exhaust gas is going to be spinning the turbo regardless of whether or not its making any useful boost, its going to get pretty damn hot so a temp device sounds like a good idea.

Thats my 2c anyways.
