also try running a cable between the + on the battery and the starter. and ground to the engine NOT the battery.
failing that start the car manually - ie: jumper a wire between the ignition point on the starter and the positive and see if it kicks? (watch for the sparks tho)
i know old corollas' sometimes suffer from voltage loss in the STA line to the starter - can be helped with a relay tho.
