when i transfered the rego from WA to Qld for my poopra i had to get a saftey cert which the dumb bitch at the qld transport didnt even ask for!
all she did was check my lights, blinkers, break lights, engine and chasis numbers
made me pay alot of money(since i had 2 months rego i only had to pay for 4 months to get a "6 month" sticker)
gave me new plates
and bam
all is good
still got the old plates too
lucky mine required a socket wrench to get off
