It moves the mic further away from your mouth. I don't like flip phones either. The biggest turnoffs about the 7110 were the flip and the Naviroller. I learned to appreciate the Naviroller, but the flip gave me no end of trouble once it started breaking down. I'm quite happy with the 6310. Now if only the Bluetooth headset didn't cost more than the farken phone!! [Report message to a moderator]
