what state you buying from?has the car been modified?
recently sent mine to melb...had to deregister it and supply copies of the blue plate...was told rego not transferrable
as hawk stated you can apply for a special license to be able to drive a deregistered car..something like 48 hours
every state is different....contact the RTA and give em your situation....they "should" be able to tell you exactly what options you have
generally once interstate all you need is a copy of the blue slip (if modified), rwc & deregistration notice (2 be safe, so they can see it was running) & it should be a simple as dotting & crossing your i's n t's
