if it has an 88253 head, and that is the original head, it has been retrofitted with EFI.
It should already have double valve springs if it is a 88253 head, but they will be no better than the singles from earlier models.
Performance Springs do supply heavy duty ones for these, except a spacer will need to be sourced to match the installed height.
Note, it is only worth putting in heavy valve springs if you plan to rev it high very often.
If you put them in and don't do cams and stuff, you'll actually lose power (motor has to do more work to turn the cams against strong springs)
Port and polish is always good and easy to do. The 88253 head can be ported well, and is not as fiddley as some of the other models.
If you're not going to turbo, then high comp pistons always help, as you would most likely have low comp ones in there now.
If you go for really high compression ie >10.5:1 then you should do cams aswell so you don't chew through too many head gaskets.
