The "Switch" wire is like the voltage sensing wire of the regulator, so that the regulator knows the voltage of the battery and can control the alternator accordingly.

If you are wiring this into an AE71 corolla or sprinter etc where you previously had the external regulator on the passenger side strut tower in engine bay - its easy to do!
Just unplug and throw away the old external regulator, and test to see which wires are which on that six pin plug (3 of which would have gone to the old alternator, thus you use the other 3)
