SeptemberSquallIndustries Forums Junkie Location: Melbourne Registered: August 2003	Re: 2tg cams the pair Wed, 26 November 2003 21:48 In answer to your Q, the function of camshafts like this is to increase the lift and duration of valve movement (intake and exhaust valves open more and stay open longer) to allow greater volumes of intake and exhaust to enter and leave the cylinders than otherwise possible. Camshaft specifications can affect power delivery ranges and patterns. Generally these cams would be best combined with high compression ratios and supporting intake and exhaust work to work to their best. I'd not be using them on an internally standard 2T-GEU (with compression of around 8.7:1?)... I don't think the gains would be all that significant. If you're not happy with the performance of the 2T-GEU and want more in a naturally-aspirated application, I'd be looking first at higher compression pistons, 3T crank and then cams like these to suit. Alternatively, your present low compression may be conducive to forced induction - perhaps a 3T-GTEU manifold and CT-20 turbocharger with a small front-mount intercooler would be effective. As a bonus, the car is already set up for fuel injection, which is a good thing for forced induction applications. You'd need to get a computer solution sorted out though, maybe like a Microtech D4(?) or similar fuel-only computer. [Report message to a moderator]
