i dunno if you have already seen this celica, but it is the only proof i could find on the internet that suggests a 2TG head would flow better than a 3TGTE head. The only real difference between the two heads is the twin spark on the 3TGTE, which is only there for emission problems/complete combustion.

PS interesting to note the quote -" Many pistons later and a few crappy time slips it was upgraded to a hybrid engine", which kinda suggests that the 2TG head reduces the chances of killing pistons thru excess boost/detonation.
