I replaced the cluster in my AE92 CS with a CSX tacho-cluster and the tacho worked straight away. This means the wiring is already there for the tacho. Pin 1 on the A plug in the back of the cluster carries the tacho signal so you should be able to join your tacho wire to the wire going to that pin. If you're still having trouble in a couple of weeks time, my tacho-cluster will be up for sale as I'm changing to an SX cluster shortly.

That ain't bad... Its moreso joining the others such as power and ignition that i'm a bit more concerned about..
