Ive changed one of these when the motor was in a car (MX83)and i must say its a bit of a pain in the arse.

Not impossible thou.

The thermostat is under the turbo at the front of the block.

You'll need to remove air filter and piping, the bottom nut isnt all that hard but the top one is a little more dificult.

You'll need the look down from the top (hard to see and do) or come up from underneath (never tried but it has to be easier) to get to the nut.

I dare say there is a blockage somewhere id the bottom hose is still cold.
