What I do to tighten the top nut on my coil overs is to get a set of curved jaw vice grips then go out to the yard and cut about 4 inches off the end of a garden hose. Split the garden hose and wrap this around the shock shaft and then grip the hose with the vice grips.
I'm sure I get a great rep around my neighbourhood every time I play around with my suspension. Cutting a bit off the hose and then going and hanging out in the garage is great for making the bloke next door respect you.
