manor Occasional Poster Location: Sunshine Coast Registered: October 2003	Re: how do I tell if my valve stem seals are shaged Mon, 01 December 2003 11:46 If you go down a long steep hill without touching the accelerator till u get to the bottom, then accelerate, if there is a cloud of blue smoke from exhaust then, that is stem seals. If it blows blue smoke continually, it is rings! To change stem seals is easy, the rope is the most effective, compressed air is ok if constant pressure - make sure either way the cylinder u are working on is t. d. c. Cos u can't get the valve back if it drops in, remember top. dead centre, no drop, or head off! Stem seals will prevent about 60% of the smoke, proportionate to the klm's the rings or seals have done [Report message to a moderator]
