problem for you is that when you import car parts, they attract 15% duty and 10% GST on them, so your US$2600 attracts 26.5% = US$689 in duty and GST. you also pay 10% GST on the postage 
so thanks to our current federal government, you get to pay approx AUD$1000 more  (not including postage and GST on the postage)
you might be able to dodgy it in gettign some to bring it in for you, but chances are you will still pay duty, and if you don't declare could have goods confiscated 
i believe that from 1st jan 2005, the duty on car parts goes down to 5%, so you would save 10%

anyways, thats why things appear much more expensive here....
