Thu, 04 December 2003 06:16 With digital cameras, u have the option to take photos using the FINE or STANDARD setting what are the differences? the file sizes are halved in standard mode... i.e. bout 2mb for fine and 1 mb for standard .... i cant the differences on the computer .. i am guessing when u print it out u can tell the difference ? Normal will use a more aggresive algorithm resulting in a small jpg file but with more artifacts. Fine will result in a larger jpg due to less compression but with less artifacts. Printing a 4x5 or 4x6 will probably not show much of a difference but if you plan to blow up any of your shots, the artifacts will start to become more noticeable. The uncompressed file sizes for both will be the same only the photo compressed in fine mode will be of a higher quality. Found my answer dont worry - why did i post this on a car website ?
