 with a heavy car like that (relaticely
  ) i'd be tempted to go with capacity.. going back to a 1.6L may not be that great... 
 either keep 3TC/G and turbo or SC.
 for a swap, 1GG, T or Z
 and if you wanna go nuts, 1UZ (they are gettin cheaper....)
 
 what about current 1ZZ/2ZZ? hassle with bellhousing i guess..
