i would think that they designed the bearing housing to require cooling fluid and oil. anyway, heat is the enemy of turbo bearings, the more heat you can remove the longer the bearings last.

In the garret turbo in my celica, the amount of oil being fed into the bearing housing would not take away the amount of heat that the water jacket could.

...you could experiment by seeing how long it lasts without water supply? Cool

also, would be interested in selling the flange that feeds oil to/from the older (non water cooled) CT20? (i've got a CT20 but no plumbing to connect oil feed to bearing housing)
