sideshow Forums Junkie Location: sydney Registered: March 2003	Re: 1J Tacho Fri, 19 December 2003 08:12 best thing to do is recheck where the wiring went on the dash that the engine came out of the blck wire with brown rings on it every 2cm is the tacho signal it should come from the ignitor then u should either have a black with orange stripe or a black with yellow strip these are ignition wires on toyotas they are bit fiddly to do vbecause the wires dont go directly to tacho the tacho has screws in the back and the power runs thru the screws just go over it all u could also get the signal wire and attach a very long wire to it and connect it to another car runnin beside it connect it to its neg coil if it still doesnt work the tacho then the wiring is out if it works the tacho then the signal to tacho is not there by the way tacho boosters will not change a 4 cly to work on a 6 or orther way round there are 6 cyl tachos for single coiled engines and their are 6 cyl tachos for multi coil engines the multi coiled engines have to weak a signal to run the single coil tachos and thats all the tacho booster does unless there is a new model that can do both [Updated on: Fri, 19 December 2003 08:14] [Report message to a moderator]
