How are you grounding? I'd try grounding the gauges to something metal on the dash, if you are using an existing wire.

You seem to be running them correctly, as they do need to be in a parallel configuration. Could you try running them straight to the battery together to ensure that it is a problem with the wiring and not a bad supply through the old harness wires.
