that depends how much oil is in there.. a small amount will get burnt easily but if, as you have said, there is a lot of liquid oil in there, then it may be that you will get compression lock when cranking which has the potential to cause some damage. its the same effect when a 4WD drowns in a deep water hole except the compression of the water just destroys the piston and bends the valves when they crank.
lesson: fluids dont compress as easily as air
