Spraying the actual car only takes a few hours,
prepping before and between layers is what makes a beautiful spray job.
Paint is important, but not THAT important. Cheap paints may fade quicker, but if you generally take car of the car (washing, waxing, shade or car cover), should be alright.
I'd rather my car done professionally with cheap paint, than done dodgily with quality paint..
Obviously quality paint, and proffessionaly job woudl be desirable though
On an interesting note, do you know the series 6 rx7(FD3S)??? The early releases (92-95) were done with real shit paint. Also, the machines that paint em weren't really up to scratch (production costs). They'd miss entire portions with primer. That's the reason why there are a few with chipped paint, and faded bodies (especially red).
But did these cars look shit from the factory??? (hell no, one of the nicest looking cars ever). Many people keep these garaged, and well maintained (wash, wax), and they are still lasting.
bottom line, you get what you pay for. But just keep em well maintained, and an average spray job could still be alright.
rock on.
