I take it your talking about xA6x celicas (ra60, ra65, sa63).
I don't have the specs for the ra60 or sa63 but i do have info on the ra65.
By information i'm not 100% sure what you mean but i'll just lay down the important stuff
Engine: 22r-e (4cyl 2.4ltre efi sohc) Puts out 87kw or 115bhp
Kerb weight: 1150kg dry, more likely 1200+kg though
Ventalated disks front, drums rear, open diff.
Definatly check for rust in the hatch and rear. Open up the boot and take the trimming off of the hatch section and have a look, theres a good chance that there will be rust in there.
As for pros and cons...
well in my situation id say a pro is that the car shares a fair bit in comon with the ma61 supras, so that means from the firewall back there are a fair bit of interchangable parts. The cars fairly light for its size as well so thats a bonus too. The biggest con is the engine that comes stock with it, while you can mod it its not the best base for it. The good thing about the engine is that its a toyota engine and like most toyota stuff its been overengineered, so it will take a beating and its fairly bullet proof. They also make great sleepers because it realy is a 80's car and people rarely expect to see a car from that era thats so boxy to get up and boogy
Their also pretty cheap as well so thats a bonus too. These are one of the first "modern" cars to come out, its got all the luxuries of aircon, powersteering, efi, irs etc (not all models have aircon and powersteering because its an option). Its also a 2 door so giving lifts to people won't be a big worry either
I was in the same situation as you were a few months ago.
The reason I got the ra65 is because it was a steal at $450 and pretty much the only thing that was wrong with it was the engine was completely fubard. So we got a reconed engine put in and that cost a little over $2500. So now I have myself a road going car for less than $3000, just the thing for a first car, a cheap beater.
I whole heartedly recomend this car for a first car because its not a total slug. Its a fun car to drive, its got enuff room in the hatch once you put the rear seats down so that its practical.
