CLG: What power figures would a 3K with worked cams, extractors and a full 1.5 or 2 inch exhaust with 2 inch resonator and straight through muffler be capable of?
Also is electronic ignition hard to do on a 3K?
Thanks for the advice BTW.

for electronic ignition, just get a Jaycar HEI kit. they work wonders.

as for power, the 1300 class race boys get around 140-150hp from a 1300 3K, ie bored 3-4mm, oversize valves, 300+ deg cams, twin webers, tuned exhaust etc.... but their powerband is usually about 6000-9000rpm, with buggerall below that. the TOSCO manual on my page http://www.materials.unsw.edu.au/~sford describes what is needed to reach this goal, and has cam and porting specs etc.

my current build, which is a 4K, 3K bigport head, 1mmOS pistons, camtech 609 cam, dual valvesprings, much exhaust porting, valve unshrouding and CC shaping, 10.2:1 CR, home made tuned extractors, home made 2" exhaust (2 resonators and reverse flow muffler=quiet), jaycar HEI, weber 34DMS carb etc etc....
it currently has peak torque of about 105Nm@4600rpm, and peak power of about 100-105hp@8000rpm.

basically with good ideas and sensible mods, you might be able to get about 110-120Nm from the 1.3L, or 100-110Nm from 1.2L. to do this, you have to ditch the single carb setup, and either go for the EFI manifolds from 4KE/7KE, or twin weber style manifolds (and EFI TB's would be lovely Wink )

i'm abotu to EFI mine, and am expecting to have a flatter torque curve with around 115-120Nm peak. power doesn't really worry me, but the powerband will be
from 4000-8000+.

it should be relatively easy to get around 100hp from a street motor.. but more than that it gets exponenetially harder and more expensive.
