Generally if you use a reasonable sized (45+mm) external gate, on a decent manifold, you won't have any issues. However, sometimes factory internal gates CAN tend to allow excessive pressure to build up before the turbo, which in itself limits boost. So what Allan said DOES sometimes make sense/apply. But use a decent external gate and you won't have any issues
