The oil coming out of a turbo is whipped up into a frothy milkshake after going through the turbo bearings which spin at 100,000 rpm or more, and it's non-pressurised to boot. This means the oil drain needs to have a direct downhill route to the sump, and the drain tube needs to be a large diameter. You certainly can't push it uphill into the cam covers!
