Yeah they look almost identical to a temp sensor.
Did the 1G have electric thermos or clutch fan? I don't know the 1G well, but the 4AGE from the AE82 corolla has electric thermo fans standard, so has a sensor in the remote thermostat for this. Whereas the 3t-gte had a clutch fan so no sensor that would work.
Cold start switching would be around 20 degrees from memory.
So you could get a switch from a 4age fwd corolla.. I'm sure there is heaps of other cars that have this switch also, but then I figure most newer ones the ECU would switch the fan on.
