is the fuse blown , i thought that the fuse was the same one used for the tail lights or brake lights . i once had one that the dash light fuse , whichever one it was kept blowing , after changing the headlight switch and resoldering another one , pulling apart the car , tracing all wiring , i worked out that it was a faulty brake light relay { which isn't on the wiring diagrams } it was internally shorting causing the postive side of the dash light to melt a wire behind the drives side fuse kick panel . Remember that the dash illumination is negative , the postive is a constant in the circuit to . Also i hav seen allot of stereos installed using the postive to the heater control lights as a power / ignition overloading the wiring and fuse . i think the negative is a green wire from memory .
