Joel, has the tailshaft place actually told you it is useless? Usually they take off the last vestiges of the tube so that just the yoke is left, and then weld that into a (new) tube. Obviously, if it cut through the yoke itself, then you have a problem.
I'd be a little disappointed if the tailshaft came out to more than $300.
Cruzsida, not sure I understand you at all. All my cars have a 1 piece tailshaft - I just undo the flange bolts that mate it to the diff and pull it out.
