I think Cruzsida is right when it comes to IRS equipped cars, the tailshaft goes over a part of the diff cradle, & would not be able to be dropped at the diff & pulled back out of the box. That's another bumber.
Dave, the place I'm going to are really helpful, & have said they can attach the new yoke/uni/end cap assembly onto the old shaft, but said these newer cressidas etc don't have a normal end cap/uni mount welded onto the end of a tube, they have a uni mount that has an inch or so of tube on it which is friction welded to the rest of the tube/shaft.
As I said before it's also been cut (with a gas axe I might add!) very close to the end of the shaft, so there's about 6mm to play with at the shortest point. To attach it to the old shaft it would have to be built up with a bit of weld.
A little dissapointed for more than $300?
Tell me about it, I was estimating under 200, and when we started talking 600+ I couldn't believe it!
